Where are your products sourced?
All of our apparel and garments are manufactured in Honduras in WRAP and FLA certified factories! All of our glassware and drinking products are made in the USA. All items are printed by our staff here in our Longmont shop!
Can I cancel my order?
Due to the nature of our fulfillment, we are not able to cancel orders. We are, however, more than happy to return and item and refund the purchase. We ship items often times same day and the relay between email for order cancellation and fulfillment often overlaps, but rest assured we can get your original payment method credited and the item returned at no cost to you.
What is in the package besides my item?
All orders are shipped with a packing slip . All orders also ship with free Black Lantern stickers that are rotated monthly. These stickers are just for fun and are not outdoor-rated. We can not send out specific stickers for the free stickers in the package; it is always a random assortment.
How do I opt out of emails?
All our emails contain a clear unsubscribe link at the bottom. Simply click the link and hit unsubscribe on the next page. If you require further assistance, please contact support.
If I sign up for your emails, how often do you send them out?
Fear not, our infamously infrequent emails will not clog up your inbox or wake you up every morning! We send out an acceptable number of emails per year showcasing artist collaborations, limited releases, and new designs, as well as two big sales events to clear our last year's designs from the shelves.
Can I become a brand ambassador?
If you think you have what it takes to become a brand ambassador, we would love to hear from you! Please send any submissions to support@blacklantern.com! We have a few requirements that must be met in order to apply. On all social channels, we require 10k followers or more with active engagement. The social accounts can not be used solely for marketing purposes. We like to engage with other like-minded individuals who share our love for the great outdoors!
Are your products organic?
All of our inks used in the shop contain no metals, phthalates, or harsh chemicals! However, they are not organically certified. Our apparel and garments are also not organic, though as these options become more readily available, we will do our best to print our products on more sustainable materials and styles!

Apparel
Do your prints fade or wash off?
Our apparel is screen-printed by hand right here in our Colorado shop! We ensure every shirt is in the conveyor dryer at the right temperature to ensure maximum adhesion and ink curing.
Where are your garments made?
We take great care to ensure that all our apparel is manufactured in Honduras, in facilities that we have personally vetted. This is to guarantee that they are entirely free from sweatshops and child labor. Moreover, all employees receive competitive wages and health care coverage. Our apparel is produced in facilities that comply with international standards and labor laws, reflecting our strong commitment to social responsibility and ethical labor practices.
Do your garments run true to size?
Yes! We have sourced our blanks in retail/casual sizes. We do not implement fit cuts or slim-fitting styles. If you comfortably wear a size large, that size option should be the perfect fit for you here in our shop. If you rotate between two sizes, we always recommend going with the larger size.
Do your shirts shrink in the washing machine?
Our garments are pre-shrunk, but may still experience some shrinkage if washed and tumble-dried hot. A general rule is a 3-5% shrinkage, with 100% cotton shrinking the most. Our 60/40 cotton-poly blend shirts experience minimal shrinkage when washed and dried hot. To minimize shrinkage, wash cold and tumble on low-heat or hang dry.
Is all of your apparel organic made from organic materials?
At present, our apparel does not consist entirely of organic materials. As these options become more readily available, we are committed to incorporating them into our offerings. We are also exploring the release of limited-edition collections featuring recycled and organic items to actively contribute to these important initiatives.
Can I return a shirt if it has been worn?
If an item shows that it has been used and worn beyond trying it on for size, we can not accept a return on the item for sanitary reasons. If you simply opened the package and the size didn't work, then we are more than happy to do an exchange/return on the item.
Hats
Can I wash your hats in the washing machine?
It's important to note that machine washing or dishwashing your hat, despite what some online hat systems may claim, is not recommended. Doing so can compromise the integrity of the bill, causing it to lose its shape and affecting the overall quality of your hat.
So how do I clean my hat?
We completely get it, we change our minds too! While we wish could, once an order is placed, we are unable to alter or cancel it at this time. We hope to have a cancellation window one day in the future.
Where are your hats made?
All of our hats are manufactured in either Vietnam or Mexico. As more US-made hats become available, we will continue to explore these options.
Can I exchange a hat for a different size if it does not fit?
Absolutely! We offer hassle-free exchanges for unused items within 30 days of purchase. Visit our returns page for more information here
I don't know what size I should get...
If you don't know your head size, it can be daunting to figure it out. The safest way is to order an adjustable back(non-fitted), which covers nearly 95% of all sizes. If you are on the border of fitted sizing, we recommend going with the larger size, as it won't max out the elastic headband as much and will be much more comfortable to wear for long durations of time.
Flat Bill vs. Curved Bill?
Some people are very particular in what option they would like for their bill. If you are buying a hat as a gift we generally recommend a flat bill as this option can be creased down easily to be a curved bill and is what most customers prefer! As always, we are always happy to exchange if it does not work out!
Messenger Bags
Are the messenger bags gusseted on the bottom?
Yes! The messenger bags are roughly a 6 inch gusset on the bottom allowing for expansion and compression.
Is the messenger bag main compartment open?
Yes! The main compartment is open, but it does feature a smaller compartment on the back wall that features a zipper closure. There is also a key ring hold that clips keys securely into place. The main flap folds over the main compartment, ensuring the contents stay dry and in place.
Can I machine wash this bag?
In short, No. We do not recommend machine washing this bag. With its' retro styled frayed edges and the cotton-canvas fabric used, machine washing can damage this fabric and cause excessive pilling of the fabric. We recommend spot-cleaning with a hot cloth to remove any unwanted stains.
You can also soak the bottom portion of the bag in warm water to remove any stains from the bottom of the bag, but we do not recommend submerging the top flap.
What size laptop can this hold?
This messenger bag can comfortably fit up to a 16-inch laptop inside a padded case.
Roll-Top Backpacks
Can the backpack be machine-washed?
We do not recommend putting the backpack through a machine washer due to natuare of the fabric and the leather straps and accents.
Is the bag waterproof?
The bag is made from treated cotton canvas with leather accents. It repels all water, such as rain, spills, and other spills. Water will not soak through the fabric. However, if it is fully submerged underwater, it will get into the bag. You are covered as long as you don't go swimming with it on your back.
What is the best way to clean this bag?
We recommend spot-cleaning the bag with warm water and a mild soap or detergent. Please don't bleach the bag or machine wash it. Leather will naturally weather over time, and any leather conditioner will work to bring back the vibrancy of the leather straps and accents as your bag ages. We recommend applying this conditioner with a very fine rag in small increments.
Day Trekker Backpacks
Is this bag waterproof?
This bag is not 100% waterproof. It is a waxed cotton canvas that sheds and repels water. It will hold up through rain storms and keep your contents dry, but water will get into the compartments if fully submerged in water.
Do these bags come with any warranty?
Yes! Our backpacks and messenger bags come with a one-year manufacturer's warranty that covers any design flaws or problems with the bags' construction. With all our bags, we recommend inspecting your bag once you receive it to make sure everything looks up to par. We check all bags in-house as well before shipping for any flaws.
Can I exchange my bag for a different color or style?
We recommend spot-cleaning the bag with warm water and a mild soap or detergent. Please don't bleach the bag or machine wash it. Tote Bags
How do I clean my tote bag?
We recommend spot cleaning with a warm damp cloth, or hand-washing in cold water. Machine washing can cause extra piling in the fabric, compromising the quality of your bag.
Are the bottoms gusseted?
These tote bags are not gusseted on the bottom.
Can I iron my tote bag?
You can iron the tote bag on the back and front, we just do NOT recommend ironing over the imprinted area. Steam cleaning is the preferred method for care, but you can iron the handles, back and front as long as the ink is not ironed over.
Lunch Tote Bags
How do I clean my lunch tote bag?
This bag is built from a recycled Tyvek™ material that is nearly indestructible. With that said, we recommend cleaning with a warm rag and mild soap. It can be fully submerged in water and scrubbed by hand. We do NOT recommend machine-washing due to the thermal lining.
How long will this bag keep items hot/cold?
The reflective inner thermal lining can keep items hot for up to 4 hours and items cold for up to 5 hours. For cold items, we always recommend a small ice pack, or cooler shock. This will add a few more hours onto the cold time.
What is the Tyvek™ material?
Tyvek is a material used by your local post office on its large mailing bags and by all home builders to weatherproof their houses. It also makes a nearly indestructible tote bag!
Can I iron the bag to remove wrinkles?
Please do not iron the bag. This is not a fabric bag and a hot iron placed onto the material will melt the outer shell. Wrinkles will naturally fade away over time for that warm and well-loved look characteristic of a great bag.
Glassware
Where are you glasses made?
All our glasses are made in the USA! They are then designed and printed by hand right here in our Colorado shop.
Is your glassware dishwasher safe?
In short, yes! However, there are a few things to know. Always place glassware on the top-shelf to avoid breakage. Keep them from touching other objects to avoid glass chipping. Please refer to the care instructions tab on the product page fore more information.
How is the graphic applied?
All of our glassware is screen printed by hand with ink. It is NOT vinyl, or etching. The prints are super permanent and heat-set at over 450 degrees.
Is the listing for two glasses?
Yes! All of our pint, whiskey and can glasses are sold as a set containing 2 glasses. The only beverage items we sell as singles are our stainless steel pint glasses and campfire coffee mugs.
How are the glasses packaged?
Our glasses are packed with extra care so they arrive in perfect condition. They are packaged securely inside the retail display boxes and then padded on all edges with at least one inch of packing materials, with cardboard inserts surrounding the products. Very few break over the course of a year, but if, for some reason, your glasses arrive damaged, we will send out a replacement set at no extra cost to you immediately.
Can you customize the glasses?
Unfortunately, at this time, we are not offering customization on our glassware for retail orders. We are always happy to help out with events and weddings and things of the sort, but we do have a MOQ of 72 glasses for any type of customization.
Stickers
Are your stickers outdoor rated?
Yes! All of the stickers that are for sale on the website are outdoor-rated. Free stickers do ship out with every order and these ones will hold for a year or so outdoors, but the free stickers are not outdoor rated.
Will these stickers fade in color?
The stickers will not fade in color, even if they are on a rod vault on your roof constantly exposed to the sun. Every sticker is coated in a UV film, protecting it from damage from the sun's rays.
Will these stickers peel at the edges?
They will not. We do recommend cleaning the area with Windex or a wet rag before applying the sticker.
Shipping
What are your processing times?
Please allow us 2-3 business days to process and ship your order. Not all orders will ship out the same day they are placed or the next, although many do; please do not rely on it!
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, we ship all over the world. Shipping costs will be calculated at the checkout. International shipping usually takes 10-20 days. Please note that international sales are final and no refunds or exchanges are offered unless the product is faulty or damaged.
How do I get free shipping?
We hear that! Paying for shipping stinks, but we are a small business and can only absorb shipping costs on some orders. All orders over $75USD will ship for free anywhere in the continental US.
How will my order ship?
All orders to the United States will ship via USPS or UPS Ground. The delivery time for these options ranges from 2-4 days, depending on how far away you are from Colorado. Please allow 1-2 days for processing before your order ships from our warehouse.
How can I track my order?
Once your order has shipped from our warehouse, it comes with a tracking number. Please allow 1-2 days for processing before tracking information becomes available. All tracking information is sent via email to the address you provided during checkout. Since this is an automated email, please check your spam/junk folder for this email. If you can not find it, don't hesitate to contact us.
Can I upgrade my shipping so it arrives sooner?
Yes! We stock most items and can upgrade shipping to any method you would like, except FedEx. We are more than happy to overnight packages and 2 day Air if needed. If you need something right away, please call us at 720.986.1626 so we can verify the stock of the items in your order and get them shipped out for you.
I am missing an item from my order...
We often ship larger orders with multiple items in different packages. If you still have not received your items after 4 days, be sure to get in touch with us immediately so we can figure out why the item is missing.
How does the glassware ship?
All glassware orders to the United States ship via USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground. This covers 90% of the US in 2-3 days, with most deliveries happening in 2 days; unless you are in the upper East Coast area, this area tends to land in the 3-day ship time. For Colorado residents, you will receive your glassware in 1 day once your item leaves our warehouse.
Returns & Exchanges
Can I return or exchange my purchase?
We stand by our products 100%, and if you're not completely satisfied with your purchase,
please get in touch with us immediately so we can make it right. We're happy to facilitate size
exchanges if the size you ordered isn't the perfect fit. Typically, exchanges are processed
within 1-3 business days from receiving the items back here at the shop. For detailed

Do you offer free returns?
For orders within the United States we offer a free pre-paid returns service. Your pre-paid label will be supplied to you after we have authorized your return. For more information please check out our Shipping & Returns page.
Can I get a refund?
For orders within the United States:
Once we receive and confirm the like-new condition of the returned item(s), refunds and credits will be applied to the original method of payment.
Typically, refunds and credits are processed within 1–2 business days.
For international orders:
All international orders are final and refunds and credit notes are only issued if your product is faulty or damaged. Please get in touch if your order has not arrived in the condition which you expect.
Shipping charge refunds:
Please note that initial shipping and handling charges are only refundable if the item arrived damaged or defective. If we cannot exchange or repair an item to meet your request, we may, at our discretion, issue you a gift card or store credit. For more information please check out our Shipping & Returns page.
Gift Cards
How do I receive my gift card?
Once your order is placed, an email is sent out to the address that you entered during checkout. If you entered it to be sent as a gift, the recipient, whose email address was specified during checkout, will receive an email containing the gift card number and the amount that it is for.
To use a gift card, simply enter the gift card number, or copy and paste it at at checkout to redeem it.
Can I return an item purchased with a gift card?
Items returned from a purchase that used a gift card will be issued back with an Egift card good for store credit. We can not reimburse purchases for cash value, or deposit money onto another payment method.
Can I return a gift card?

I lost my email containing my gift card, can I get a new one?
Not a problem! As long as the old gift card has not been used we can cancel it and issue a new one for the same amount. Please send us an email to initiate this process.
